Blog Post #: Evaluative Essay

In my media studies project,  my  research significantly  helped me create my documentary. My final projec t did not change a lot from my  initial  idea, but the research helped create cohesion, branding, filming, and polishing my theme. The original i ntent from the project was to create a multi-episode documentary series where every episode discusses a different influence of modern-day fashion. One of the first things I researched was the different influences I could  have on each episode. When I settled on my episode segment for the final project to be about social media, I primarily researched social media after that. This helped  me not branch out from the main message of the episode.   Additionally, I also  researched  how fashion is aimed  at  different age groups. This helped me create better branding, because I recognized my audience and adjusted my advertising and documentary to intrigue the v iewer.   To ...

Blog Post #53: Instagram - Posting Frankie

Image
I decided to post multiple things of Frankie since she is the main star of my documentary. I know my interview with her did not go well, but I still have her interviewed in my magazine article, so I might as well put the clips to use. I decided to advertise her anyway because I could just say that she is featured in other episodes that weren't the social media one. I think this also helps branch out the advertising because it is showing teasers from the entire documentary and not just one episode. The first thing I posted has multiple photos. The first one introduces her in a fun way, calling her a fashion icon. This later influenced another post. Anyway, I wanted to introduce her in that way because it makes the audience connect with her more and see a different side of her. Also, it allows me to insert photos of her outfits to seem more "trustworthy" that she knows what she is talking about. Nobody wants to watch a fashion documentary where the person has terrible style...

Blog Post #52: Instagram - Posting Magazine Article

Image
After I finished creating the magazine, I took a photo of my computer screen. I posted the photo, with an overlay, and a text with the date of the magazine release. The reason I set it up like this is because I wanted it to seem like I was currently editing the magazine and it was in the process. It would build the anticipation, give a teaser to the audience, and provide a final date for when the magazine would be released. I added an overlay of the second picture I took of the computer screen because it added more interesting details to the post. The caption I wrote for it further advertised my documentary. It urges the viewer to check out the latest publish inside the magazine. It also teases what is inside the magazine (exclusive interviews, behind the scenes filming pictures), along with the release date. I added the flower emojis because I want to build the branding off the color pink. Most of my posts contain the color pink because I want to incorporate it into the advertising. I...

Blog Post #51: Mall Filming

Image
I decided to film at clips at the mall because my documentary did not reach the 5 minutes. I want to film at the Citrus mall instead of the local one by me because the local one does not have as many shoppers. It also does not have a lot of stores inside it, so I don't think it will push the right message if the mall is empty. The local mall (Gulf View Square) The mall I want to film in (Citrus Park) Here are some scenes I am planning to film to add: Quick cuts of clothing tags Showing prices Trying on outfits Posing in mirrors People walking around the mall The front of shops in the mall Shopping bags Possibly interview a worker The reason why I changed the setting is because I have a lot of ideas for things to film at the mall. I struggled finding things to film in my house, I was running out of possible things I could use for scenes. I think filming at the mall with help me a lot in getting the best clips for my project. I will try to make them creative and cinematic. The mall i...

Blog Post #50: Filming Props

Image
My props were not hard to create, they were all things I already owned, so I didn't have to purchase anything. A list of props I used during filming: Makeup brush Vanity Ring light Tripod Boxes and packages Clothing Sewing machine and supplies Laptop I used the makeup products, vanity, and ring light to show scenes of people getting ready. I thought this added on to the fashion topic and especially the social media topic because it closely related to fashion. I used the boxes and packages to exaggerate overconsumption and online shopping. I used the sewing machine and supplies to represent sustainable fashion and DIY. I used the tripod and ring light to produce better quality clips. the tripod gave me steady shots and the ring light I used for different lighting techniques. My laptop I used in scenes where I filmed the screen, but I am later going to edit those out to film better scenes. I think that using props helped me a lot in my film to represent certain parts of fashion ...
