Blog Post #44: Full Magazine Text

This is the full final version of the text I am using for my magazine. After this I am going to practice with formatting, fonts, taking the pictures for the magazine, and making it overall look good. I also changed the order of the interview so that it fit better in the magazine.

3 facts about fashion:
  • Up to 85% of textiles end up in landfill each year
  • Clothing production has doubled since 2000
  • The fashion industry produces more than 10% of global carbon emissions

I interviewed the director of the upcoming fashion documentary "Anatomy of Fashion". It is scheduled to release early March. The documentary is a multi episode series breaking down the elements that have influenced modern fashion. Carmen C has written, directed, and created the entire film. The main actor starring is Francesca P. Check out this awesome interview I had with them!

Francesca P - Actor

Q: Did you enjoy working on the set?
A: I enjoyed working on the set a lot. The director is really nice and it was easy to film my interview parts. The questions in the interview were easy to understand, but were deep enough to have a thoughtful answer. I'm excited for you guys to see the final product.

Q: Why did you feel drawn to starring in the documentary?
A: I felt drawn to starring in the documentary because I think my style is very important to me. It is a big part of who I am, and how I express myself. I also believe that the purpose of the documentary is very important--I would like other people to see the importance as much as I do.

Q: What do you hope to achieve from the documentary?
A: After the documentary is released, I would love to begin an acting career. I really enjoyed filming for something important, and I would love to play an actual character. Capella Studios, the production company releasing The Anatomy of Fashion, is branching off to make short films. I might participate in them in the future, so keep your eye out for me in future movies!

Carmen C - Director

Q: What is your purpose in creating your film, what would like people to take away from it?
A: I wanted to dive deeper into the aspects of fashion. I believe that there is a lot of things that go into fashion, especially someone's personal style. I want people to be aware of the history behind fashion, but also bring awareness to some of the issues in the fashion industry. For example, one of my episodes is about social media. In that episode I discuss the connection between social media, online shopping, overconsumption, and child labor. There are still a lot of issues in the modern fashion world that aren't talked about enough.

Q: What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome?
A: One of the biggest challenges I had to overcome was a limited budget. Making a successful documentary or movie without expensive equipment is difficult. I made do with what I had. The things I used for props were found around my house, such as my clothes, packages, and ring light. To film I used my phone camera and a tripod. I want low budget indie films to have popularity, so people can enjoy art created by someone that isn't a large movie studio. I hope that it inspires someone to pursue their dreams and create a movie even though they don't have a million dollars for the budget
