Blog Post #3: Researching Advertisements
The Tribeca Film Festival takes place in New York City. During spring, they showcase film but also things such as music, games, and art. It was founded in 2002. They are currently taking 2026 Festival Submissions.
On the official website, they allow submissions of both feature films and short films. This includes documentaries, narratives, animation, experimental film, and music videos. (source)
In the center of the advertisement, they use a popular landscape to showcase culture and bring in their New York audience. The color scheme is warm, which makes the area look more inviting.
The amount of people suggests that the area is a popular destination, building credibility. They also linked how to contact them at the bottom left of the poster. At the bottom right, there is the event's official logo. These elements further build credibility for the company.
Along with that, they linked the website telling the reader where to purchase tickets. This gives the advertisement a "call to action."
I will be using some of these elements when I create my film festival postcard. I will link the Instagram page, email, and put the production studio logo on my postcard. I will also make sure to use a filter or certain colors to express the tone/mood of my documentary.
